How To Get the Perfect Cat Eye
Achieving the perfect winged eyeliner is a fine-tuned skill that has lasted throughout every beauty trend. Cat eye liner has become so popular, in fact, that manufacturers have begun making winged eyeliner stamps. So, why do so many of us obsess over this eyeliner style? The answer is simple: a cat eye simply makes you stand out. It’s like the frosting on the top of a cake – the cake alone is delicious, but add frosting and you’ve got a delicious treat!
5 Easy Steps For The Perfect Cat Eye
We’ve broken down the cat eyeliner process into 5 simple steps. Keep in mind, all eyes are not created equal, and practice makes perfect. You may have to practice and experiment to find the perfect angle and wing length for your eye shape. For example, if you have wider set eyes, you’re going to want to make sure your wing is shorter and pointed upward. For close set eyes, you’re going to do the opposite – create a longer and slightly more horizontal line for best results.
- Prepare Your Lids – The first thing you want to do before you begin is to prep your eye. Whether or not you plan on wearing eyeshadow, apply a primer to your lid. Primer will allow for a smoother makeup application and allow your makeup to last longer.
- Draw Your First Line – To begin your perfect cat eye look, start by closing your eyelid and drawing a line from the outer corner of your eyelid at an upward angle.
- Create a Triangle – Once you have your initial line drawn on your lid, create a triangle by connecting the top of your eyeliner wing down to your lash line. You want to somewhat keep this in line with the outer edge of your eye’s iris. After you have your triangle drawn, fill it in.
- Connect Your Lash Line – Once you have your triangle drawn and filled in, apply the eyeliner to the rest of your eyelid. Apply as you normally would, allowing your triangle to guide you. Gradually draw your liner thinner as you get closer to the inner corner of your eye. Allow to dry.
- Touch Ups – with a damp Q-Tip, gently touch up your wings and reapply liner as needed. Remove any smudges that you may have, then you can finish the look with a couple of coats of your favorite mascara. Voila! Perfect cat eyes, every time.
